Frequently asked questions
What people ask us most about Oslo: what's free, what happens to your data and how each part of the app works.
The basics
Is Oslo free?
To start, yes: Today, logging, history, your accounts, goals, debts and obligations with reminders are free, with up to 3 of each, on top of your cash and your emergency fund, which take no slot. The Personal plan removes those limits and adds Oslo, the assistant. The store shows you the final price before you pay.
Which countries does it work in?
In any country. You log in your currency and, if you choose Personal, the store charges you in your country's currency. Oslo is in Spanish, English and Portuguese.
Which phones does it work on, and where do I get it?
On iPhone, from the App Store, and on Android, from Google Play. The requirements and the steps are on Download Oslo.
Does Oslo work offline?
Yes, for everyday use. With no signal you log expenses, income and transfers, see Today, your history and your accounts, and log payments. Everything stays saved on your phone and syncs on its own when you're back online. What does need the internet is anything that uses artificial intelligence (the assistant and the reports), signing in or deleting your account, buying a plan and sending us feedback.
An expense tracker that works offline: log it now, it syncs later
What about couples, families or businesses?
Coming very soon, each with its own plan: Duo, Family and Business. Today Oslo is for you, with your accounts, goals, debts and payments. In Duo and Family, each person will decide what to share, and amounts are never made public.
Your money and your data
Do I have to connect my bank or share my passwords?
No. Oslo doesn't connect to your bank or your wallet and will never ask for a password. You log your expenses, income and transfers, and every balance comes from those transactions.
Does Oslo move my money or lend me money?
No. Oslo doesn't hold, transfer or lend money and doesn't charge interest: it keeps track of your money, which stays in your bank or your wallet. It doesn't recommend loans or investments either.
What happens to my data? Can I delete it?
Your data is yours: we don't sell it and there's no third-party advertising, and we respect the data protection laws where you live. The details are in the privacy policy. Where it lives and how we look after it is in Security and privacy. From the app you can delete your account and everything in it; without the app, you request deletion at oslofinanzas.com/eliminar-cuenta.
Can I export my transactions?
Yes. In More › Help and privacy › Data and privacy, “Export my transactions” builds a CSV file with all your transactions, to open in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers. It's built on your phone, even offline, and you don't need a plan to use it.
How it works
How do I know how much I can spend today?
In Today. Oslo takes what you have until your next payment, subtracts what's due and tells you roughly how much you can spend per day. It's a guide based on what you've logged: you don't have to log every day.
An expense tracker you fill in seconds that shows you where your month goes
Can I simulate how I'll close the month?
Yes. Under More › Your money, “Simulate a month” lets you pick this month or next, type what you think will come in and see how you'd close it, with your fixed payments, instalments, cards and budgets already taken off. With the assistant you try changes, like spending less, buying in instalments or paying extra on a debt. Both come with the Personal plan.
Can I have accounts in another currency?
Yes. Each account keeps its own currency: you can have one in your country's currency and another in dollars, for example. When you move money from one to the other, you log how much arrived in the other currency. Today counts only your profile's currency, because Oslo never adds up two currencies without the exchange you log.
How do payment reminders work?
You add your obligations (phone plan, rent, internet, streaming, insurance) and choose when we remind you: the same day, or 1, 3 or 7 days before. Your phone schedules them, they are free on any plan, and they say what and when, never how much. They also remind you of your debt installments. With “Log the payment”, Oslo records the expense and moves to the next date.
Bill reminder app: log your bills once and get the reminder before they're dueA debt payoff app: every card, loan and instalment with its rate and its date
How do goals work?
A goal is a money account marked as a goal, with a target and, if you want, a date: your bank pocket, your piggy bank or your savings account. Saving or taking out is a transfer between your accounts. Oslo keeps the count; your money stays in your bank or wallet.
A savings app that sets your goals aside and tells you what you really have left
What are summaries?
Your pay period, your month and your year as stories: how much you spent compared with last period, which goals you reached and how many payments you made on time. When you share them, they never carry amounts.
Plans and payments
What are the limits of the Free plan?
Up to 3 money accounts, on top of your cash and your emergency fund, which take no slot; 3 goals, 3 debts, 3 obligations and 3 people in “Who owes you”. Budgets have no limit. Only active ones count, not archived ones: an account marked as a goal counts as a goal, and a card or a loan counts as a debt. With Personal they're unlimited.
What happens if my plan ends?
Nothing is deleted. Whatever goes beyond the Free plan's limits stays visible and counted in your totals, read-only, until you renew.
How do I pay for the Personal plan?
Only through the App Store or Google Play, with the payment method on your Apple or Google account. The store shows you the final price in your currency before you pay. Oslo does not store cards.
How do I cancel?
With one tap, from the subscriptions of your Apple or Google account. You keep everything free and your data intact; whatever goes beyond the Free plan's limits becomes read-only: nothing is deleted.
The assistant
What is the assistant and what does it include?
It's a chat where you ask Oslo about your money and it answers with your own accounts, goals, debts and payments. It runs on Gemini, from Google, on Vertex AI. It comes with the Personal plan, with up to 150 messages a month. In More › Help and privacy › Data and privacy, we tell you what is sent when you ask it something and what never leaves.
What data does the assistant receive?
Your question, what you talked about before, your first name and a summary of your money (accounts, goals, debts, payments, budgets and your latest transactions with date, amount, category and account). It goes to Google's AI (Gemini on Vertex AI) only to answer you, and only if you gave permission. Your notes, the shops, your email and your account's identifier are never sent. More in Security and privacy.
Is the assistant financial advice?
No. It's general guidance and good habits with your own numbers. It isn't professional financial advice: it doesn't recommend a specific institution, credit or investment.
Can the assistant get my numbers wrong?
It can. Balances come from your transactions, which Oslo adds up with tested rules, and the assistant relies on a summary of them. Use it as a guide and double-check before you decide.
