What you can do offline
The everyday stuff: log expenses, income and transfers; look at Today, your history and your accounts; log a payment on a bill or a debt; log savings into a goal, and mark “I didn’t spend today”.
Oslo keeps on your phone what it already loaded, and everything you log without signal waits in line. When the connection comes back, it syncs on its own, with nothing for you to do.
What does need a connection
What depends on a server: anything that uses artificial intelligence, like the assistant and the Personal plan's reports; your account, to sign in or delete it; buying a plan in the store, and sending us feedback.
If you write to the assistant with no signal, it tells you straight: it needs the internet to answer you, and what you log is still saved.
The first time you sign in on a phone you also need a connection, to sign in and bring your data. After that, Oslo opens with what it already has saved.
Luca's advice for days without signal
Luca, Oslo's banknote, looks after your accounts and everything that comes in. In one of his morning tips he puts it this way: “Paying in cash today? Log it as well: cash is the one that vanishes without a trace.” No signal works the same way: if you don't log it on the spot, by evening you won't remember how much it was.
That's why Oslo doesn't make you wait. You save, see the entry on Today and get on with your day; the connection takes care of the rest when it arrives.
Frequently asked questions
Does Oslo work offline?
Yes, for everyday use. With no signal you log expenses, income and transfers, see Today, your history and your accounts, and log payments. Everything stays saved on your phone and syncs on its own when you're back online. What does need the internet is anything that uses artificial intelligence (the assistant and the reports), signing in or deleting your account, buying a plan and sending us feedback.
What happens to what I log without signal?
It stays saved on your phone and waits in line until there's a connection; then it syncs on its own. Meanwhile your balances and what you have left already count it, and every pending entry says “Waiting to sync” so you know what's still to go.
Do payment reminders arrive without internet?
Yes. Reminders for your bills, your debts and who owes you are scheduled by your own phone with the dates you logged, so they don't need a network to go off. They don't show amounts either: they say what's due and when.
Can I use the assistant offline?
No. The assistant comes with the Personal plan and needs the internet, because each answer is put together on a server with your question and a summary of your numbers. If you write with no signal, it lets you know, and what you log in the app keeps being saved.
